Sponsors of Black Tech Fest 2023

Showing speakers on stage at Black Tech Fest 2023

In October, Wise was honoured to sponsor and be a part of Black Tech Fest 2023 🚀

Black Tech Fest (BTF) is one of the largest not-for-profit gatherings of its kind, drawing over 10,000 attendees worldwide last year.

Our team proudly represented Wise on stage.  We heard from:

Folley Ogundele, VP of Sales for Wise Platform, who joined a panel on How to build a future-proof organisation.

Tomisin Abiona, Design Researcher, and Ibukun Itimi, Engineering Lead, held a discussion on Breaking Barriers and Building Bridges, A Black Professional’s Guide to Success in Tech and at Wise.

Our Head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Selina Wilson, who participated at a Roundtable on DEI and sharing best practices. 🎤

It was an absolutely inspiring day as we heard from a panel of remarkable speakers who shared their insights around Black culture and innovation within the tech industry.

Here’s what two of our Wise speakers had to say:

“I’ve always believed that diversity should not be viewed merely as a quota, but rather as a crucial element for organisations to authentically develop products and solutions that cater to a diverse market and customer base. Without diverse teams and perspectives, achieving this authenticity becomes a formidable challenge.

Participating in Black Tech Fest and commemorating Black voices, which often don’t represent the majority, was an extraordinary experience. Additionally, contributing to this celebration on behalf of Wise, where diversity isn’t just encouraged but also actively celebrated and supported, was a standout moment of my year.

I eagerly anticipate a world where diverse talent is not just attracted but also provided with the space to thrive. Every step in that direction feels like a positive move toward a more inclusive future.”  Ibukun

“An African proverb says, “If you want to go fast, go alone, if you want to go far, go together”.
Through my career and life experiences, I have been made to know of the importance of fostering connections with like minded individuals, so I was honoured to be given the opportunity to speak at Black Tech Fest on my experience of building connections at Wise. The experience was extremely fulfilling with sessions from leaders across the industry and networking opportunities with other members of the black tech community in the UK. Thank you again to the team for their involvement in the event and look forward to future events.”

We take immense pride in sponsoring Black Tech Fest, an event that celebrates Black culture and its profound influence on technology, and we’re committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity in the tech space.
