Wise is one the fastest growing companies in the world and we’re on a mission: to make money without borders the new normal. We’ve got 13 million customers across the globe and we’re growing. Fast.

Current banking systems don’t let us send, spend or receive money across borders easily. Or quickly. Or cheaply.

So, we’re building a new one.

And, we’re looking for a Technical Product Manager – Cloud Infrastructure to join us in London.

Our mission is money without borders – instant, convenient, transparent and eventually free. But to build the world’s first true multi-currency banking infrastructure we have to step into the unknown. Using Kubernetes, containers and a cloud native ecosystem we are continuously reshaping the way we develop, ship and run our software.

In this role you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping how we scale our cloud platform as a product, providing our engineers the perfect mix of speed to market, ease of use, cost efficiency and reliability.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Craft and implement a vision and strategy for cloud infrastructure at Wise. Working across multiple teams you’ll be accountable for defining and tracking critical metrics that measure the overall impact and success.
  • Choose your path to impact – we believe people are most empowered when they can act independently. So rather than telling you what to do, you’ll work with your team and be supported by your lead to craft a vision of your own.
  • Grow as a domain expert – Cloud Computing and banking infrastructure are only just beginning to make friends, you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape this at a significant (and rapidly growing) scale.

There is no denying that this is a technical domain, the teams in this squad cover compute (Kubernetes), networking and public cloud governance (access), but the product role isn’t there to provide the technical solution (we have great engineers for that), this role is about understanding our user needs, using data to drive prioritisation and setting a long term vision for the cloud infrastructure Wise will need in 2, 3 or 5 years from now.

About you:

  • Proven experience leading a product team that deliver high quality user experience
  • You’re empathetic, user focused, you don’t mind knocking on doors to gather user needs and feedback
  • You understand the fundamentals of a cloud native ecosystem, and are intrinsically motivated by technical problems and you can evaluate potential avenues for how an experience could be improved
  • Able to prioritise between improving developer experience and our technical infrastructure, backing up your decisions with quantitative and qualitative data
  • Passionate about outcomes over deliverables, able to measure the impact of them and define what data we need to prove it
  • Provide clear leadership to keep the team aligned to the user needs or business outcomes and not get caught up in the tech
  • You’re a confident communicator, able to grasp and translate technical constructs into simple language that resonate with any audience through written or spoken mediums

We believe that diverse teams bring fresh perspectives, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.
