Two team members having a meeting in the office

We’re looking for a highly experienced social media leader to supercharge the growth and impact of our Organic Social team.

We’ll be upfront with you, this isn’t your typical social media role. Unlike other roles that focus primarily on brand building, we also use our social media channels to drive growth and generate new customers. As a result, the Organic Social team sits within the Performance Marketing Tribe.

That makes this role pretty unique because on the one hand, you need to bring a high level of creativity to inspire our team and content to be the best they can be. On the other hand, you also need an analytical mind that’s capable of spotting trends in your data and using insights to inform strategy.

Finally as a fast growth company, we’re looking for someone who’s able to think at scale. Put simply, that could mean tasks like forecasting new headcount, planning new social media channel launches, or figuring out how to cater to more markets and languages across the globe. We’re not looking to keep things as they are, we’re here to grow.

We’ve made amazing progress so far and we have a team of five people already working to turn these dreams into a reality, so if you’re ready to take charge and lead this team we’d love to hear from you.

Your mission

At Wise there’s always plenty to do and learn, but this list should give you an overview of some of the core priorities for this role:

Your role:

  • Develop and deliver a strategy which turns organic social media into a key driver of customer acquisition and revenue growth for Wise
  • Grow our audience, generate traffic to our website and earn more customers through organic content (we have a separate Paid Social team already)
  • Lead, grow and develop our Organic Social team and motivate and inspire them to do their best work (currently a team of five people split between London and Tallinn)
  • Help us scale —use data to pinpoint what works, iterate and repeat so we constantly improve
  • Set individual and team targets/KPIs to drive engagement and growth
  • Improve Wise’s organic social media performance with a keen eye on what is driving performance for our competitors
  • Create and deliver clear, regular reports showcasing performance insights and identifying how these insights inform future plans
  • As this is a performance marketing role (as opposed to brand marketing), it's important that you are able to create plans that meet targets and report on progress towards these objectives
  • Set high standards for quality and raise the bar for team performance
  • Be able to lead meetings and present plans/strategies to multiple stakeholders for feedback
  • Finally, ensure we have the best social media content plans that truly connect with our target audience to create real impact

A bit about you

Now we’ve covered what you’ll do, here are some examples of what we think could make the perfect candidate. Social media is a highly creative industry, so we’re looking for someone who can deliver measurable performance alongside content of exceptional quality and usefulness.

This list isn’t exhaustive and you may have other skills and experience that we’d love to hear about too, but get in touch if you have demonstrable experience in the following areas:

Social Strategy

  • Social platform excellence, with proven experience driving growth through different owned channels in a high growth company
  • Proven experience acquiring customers at scale through organic content and channels
  • Ownership of a strategy which delivered organic growth and commercial objectives (focused on the bottom line)
  • Oversight of content and experience signing off/proofing/editing content including plans, posts and/or campaigns
  • Experience running social media accounts for a regulated company/FinTech/ in a complex regulatory environment is a big plus but not a requirement

  • Experience managing a team and owning processes like salary reviews, personal development, having difficult conversations and setting objectives
  • People person with a can-do attitude – excited to bring the best out in people by sparking creativity within the team
  • Experience building or growing a team, developing talent and motivating team members to do their best work
  • Ability to communicate a plan or vision to stakeholders for collaboration and feedback
  • Experience collaborating with your own team, getting their buy-in and building trust
  • Must have an understanding of the risk/compliance implications of working for a regulated company and be able to see around corners for potential issues for the team
  • Show good judgment on potential reputational risk of content
  • Able to see the big picture and how individual team members, processes and plans fit into the overall mission at Wise

  • Demonstrable evidence of delivering growth organically for major social media channels
  • Proven ability to identify what works and what doesn’t, and use data to backup your opinions
  • Ability to articulate the growth levers of each channel, and understand how/what to iterate to enhance performance
  • Analytical and able to spot patterns and trends in data and use these to inform strategy and drive performance (and train the team on this too)

  • Never assume the way we’ve started something is the best way to continue – be comfortable stretching the team to try new things
  • Think big – set ambitious goals we can rally behind and empower those around you to deliver them
  • Experience balancing the perfect combination of creativity and logic that generate results and content to feel truly proud of
  • You should be motivated by the challenge of scaling a social content ‘machine’, to keep processes and operations running smoothly and set clear goals for delivery, output and performance

What’s in it for you?

There’s a lot of detail provided in the sections above, so the first and most obvious thing that’s in it for you, is the chance to lead, grow and shape something that’s still in its early stages.

We also provide the opportunity to build an international and multilingual  team — and help us acquire new customers for Wise in a scalable and highly cost-effective way. That’s hugely important here because, unlike our competitors, our mission is to make moving and managing money internationally free. Organic marketing therefore has a huge part to play in this.

You’ll be part of a team of exceptionally talented and international marketers  who consistently break new ground in performance marketing.

A generous annual training budget will allow you to develop the skills you need to take your role to the next level and our ‘Mobile Wiser’ policy means you’re able to work from abroad for up to three months per year.

Within Wise we operate with a great degree of autonomy, so you’ll be in charge of your own workload and focus areas, giving you the chance to have a huge impact and ownership and responsibility. Things move fast here too, so if these things sound appealing to you, please get in touch.

Also, qualifications aren’t that important to us. If you’ve got great experience, and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you, because we believe that diverse and inclusive teams build better products.

We’re committed to making money transfer instant, convenient and fair for millions of people, all over the world. We’re also growing other products and our teams at an incredible pace. And we’re looking for the very best to jump on board.

What it’s really like to work here

At Wise, we do things a bit differently. There’s no corporate nonsense, and no old-fashioned hierarchy. Instead, we work in dozens of self-sufficient, autonomous teams. Think of them like start-ups within a start-up.

Each team picks the problems they want to solve. So, there’s no micro-management. No hiding behind fancy job titles. And no one telling you what to do. You are your own boss. But you’ll get tons of guidance and plenty of support from your talented, super-smart teammates.

We’re going to be upfront — the way we work doesn’t suit everyone. But if freedom, autonomy, and life-affirming, head-scratching professional challenges rock your world, we could be a match made in heaven.
