Job Description

BUSINESS COPYWRITER

WHAT’S THE ROLE? 

Wise Business is entering an exciting new era. As its first dedicated Copywriter, you’ll play a pivotal, embedded role in Wise’s newly formed Business Marketing Squad. There, you will lead on the conception and production of world-class content as a key pillar of our Business Marketing strategy.

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a truly dynamic and cross-functional marketing squad dedicated to the growth of Wise for Business, with a dotted line to the Brand & Creative team to support your continued craft development and ensure alignment across our brand voice. 

You’ll get close to the audience you’re creating content for, gathering insights on what drives impact, and building on learnings to inspire the creative direction of not only our messaging, but the Wise for Business brand overall. And you’ll bring your natural passion for your craft to keeping the squad up-to-date with the latest trends and developments across our competitor set. 

Your primary responsibilities will include crafting persuasive copy for our marketing channels, developing multi-variant testing strategies, and owning the messaging framework. You’ll also be instrumental in tailoring copy for landing pages, considering specific target markets, business sizes, and segments. This role would be an excellent fit for a proactive copywriter that can suggest and implement new testing approaches, especially in comparison to competitor messaging, backed by data-driven insights.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Marketing Channels

  • Craft engaging and performance driving copy for paid ads, social captions, CRM subject lines, podcast ads — and anywhere and everywhere in between
  • Develop multi-variant testing strategies to ensure continuous improvement and optimisation.

Messaging Framework Ownership

  • Build, own and manage the Wise business messaging framework of the future, evolving it through consistent testing and learning.
  • Proactively suggest and implement variants based on performance data and customer insights.
  • Targeted Landing Page Copy
  • Tailor copy for landing pages to resonate with specific target markets, business sizes, and segments (think: ecommerce and retail) for a more personal, considered customer journey.

Scalability Considerations

  • Shape how copywriting efforts scale across multiple verticals and markets.

Compliance Support

  • Collaborate with Product Marketing Manager (PMM) and compliance teams to create a repository of claims we can and cannot say in line with regulations.

Qualifications

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING WITH YOU?

  • A love of words, naturally, and a strong portfolio and background in performance-led marketing copywriting 
  • Experience in B2B roles / payments industry would be very helpful, although not a prerequisite. An interest in understanding the needs of (and how to speak to) financial professionals and business owners is essential 
  • Planning skills — you’ll need to plan how you work across a wide range of briefs and shifting priorities
  • A keen eye for what makes effective marketing and advertising — you’ll take inspiration from many different industries, and have a strong POV on what makes for great copywriting
  • Collaboration — an appetite to work closely with many different parts of the Wise organisation as well building strong partnerships with other creative disciplines
  • An ability to write content that inspires action — with a good understanding of how design and UX works alongside your copy to deliver results, whether that’s a 1,000 word blog or a 2 word CTA
  • Experience of articulating the ‘why’ behind your decisions — you’ll need to convince, to disagree confidently, and to take and give useful feedback
