Job Description

We’re looking for a Compliance generalist who will focus on developing and enhancing our global process and tooling frameworks. You will be a pro at stakeholder engagement, as you will be talking to Wisers across all our regions. We would love for you to have process mapping and project management experience as you will need to implement new processes or introduce process improvements. We would love it if you are data savvy and have worked on reporting in the past.

Based in Tallinn, you will work with a growing team of experienced compliance specialists to help us build world-class products that are compliant with regulatory requirements. 

Your role will be within the Global Regulatory Compliance team which oversees our licences against global standards and supports our Compliance teams, globally through the central co-ordination of risk, issues, policies, projects and regulatory deep dives.

Your mission:

  • Be a risk champion. Oversee our risk assessment tooling (you will be our AuditBoard super-user) and escalations tooling (JIRA tickets). Support with the implementation of tooling to track our regulatory obligations (Cross-Comply). You will also help to create new tools to better track and manage regulatory compliance risks.

  • Own tracking and reporting on regulatory compliance issues based on data from AuditBoard. Review and QA issues to ensure detailed and clear action plans are in place. Build out reporting with analytical support.

  • Track our progress against our Target Operating Model.

  • Manage our regulatory risk monthly meetings. You will use your initiative to suggest improvement, run Retros and make these meetings more efficient. Support with team planning events.

  • Enhance and own the global regulatory compliance confluence pages and ensure they are effectively and regularly updated. 

  • Create, implement and embed the Global Regulatory Compliance Risk External Audit and Regulatory Exam Tracker.

  • Coordinate global regulatory training, track and report on completion rates. Supported by the training Specialist you will; 

    • Gather training content and requirements from our compliance officers globally

    • Develop and conduct risk assessments to help determine training audiences and levels

    • Support to fulfil data requests and answer tickets and pull data requests and advise our stakeholders, such as CMT, COs, Internal Audit, and Banking, on the training program to these stakeholders as needed.

  • Collaborate with compliance officers; product, risk, banking and operational teams across the globe. 

  • Take on and own new challenges that arise in any area of the compliance programme on a project basis.  Take a problem-solving approach.

  • Oversee and maintain a healthy compliance culture throughout the organisation.

  • Adapt your focus on different compliance issues depending on growth plans and compliance needs.

This role will give you the opportunity to:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Wise’s business and get to know many teams across the company as you liaise with them to help them understand the regulatory framework and bring together the information that our regulators need.

  • Help build best practice within compliance risk management, data and governance and embed this across our teams in a meaningful way.

  • Help keep compliance right at the heart of our product developments and new initiatives by helping to review our risks and controls environment.

A bit about you:

Our ideal candidate will have experience in compliance, great communication and organisational skills, tons of motivation and positivity.  More specifically, we’re looking for someone who can demonstrate they have these attributes:

  • Theory. You have compliance experience (maybe you have a legal or analytical background) and/ or a keen interest in compliance with some foundations (for example, experience from Ops).  

  • Practice. You are a problem-solver. You have thought deeply about the Wise mission and how it intersects with compliance.

  • Passion. You get a kick out of improving current practices and processes. You have a can-do attitude and you love to collaborate with different teams of people across different regions. 

  • Get the job done. You have a sense of urgency and an ability to work well under pressure, prioritising, taking responsibility and working to tight deadlines.

  • Communication.  You’re a strong relationship builder across all levels of the business and externally.  You lead by example and can demonstrate the Wise values in all your actions. 

  • Development. You are looking for the next step in your career at Wise and you would like to grow within Core Compliance. 

  • Travel. The role is Tallinn based, but many of our teams are located across different office locations. You’ll be ready to travel to meet your objectives, if required.
